My own experience of counselling showed me the value of having a dedicated space to reflect, feel heard and make sense of life’s challenges. It was this experience that inspired me to retrain as a counsellor.
Alongside my private practice, I work as a counsellor for Mind and at a national bereavement organisation, supporting people through grief, loss and significant life changes.
Before becoming a counsellor, I spent many years working in health psychology, research and higher education. This experience has shaped my understanding of how closely our emotional and physical wellbeing are connected, and my interest in supporting people through periods of change, uncertainty and transition.
My approach is warm, thoughtful and collaborative. I won't make assumptions about you or tell you what you should do. Instead, I'll listen with care and curiosity, creating a space where you can explore whatever has brought you to counselling.
How I Work
The way I work is guided by a few simple principles.
Understanding before change
I believe lasting change begins with understanding ourselves more deeply. Together we'll explore the patterns in your thoughts, feelings and relationships with curiosity rather than judgement, helping you make sense of your experiences and consider new ways of responding.
Therapy shaped around you
I tailor therapy to each individual. Drawing on different therapeutic approaches we'll explore what's happening in your life now, alongside how earlier experiences may still be shaping the present.
A space to slow down
Counselling offers a calm, confidential space to slow down, reflect and make sense of your experiences.
We'll work at a pace that feels manageable for you, with curiosity and compassion, as you develop a deeper understanding of yourself and consider what you would like to be different.
You don't need fixing
For me, therapy isn't about fixing people or trying to change who you are. It's about creating a space where you can feel understood, explore what is happening for you and discover possibilities for meaningful change.
